Sustainability & Circular Economy

KMK Metals Recycling aims to operate in a way that has a positive economic, social and environmental impact and continuous improvement action to prevent pollution.

KMK Metals Recycling is committed to being a respected, responsible corporate citizen, working constructively with our community and stakeholders and engaging in honest and ethical conduct of the business.

With the global population predicted to approach 9 billion people by 2030, we are using more resources than the planet can provide. The traditional linear materials economy model, where raw materials are mined, products are produced and landfilled at the end of their useful life has proven to be unsustainable as the earth’s population continues to grow and we consume more products. Moving from an unsustainable linear model to a circular model is the path forward to avoid depleting finite raw material resources.

KMK Metals Recycling is pushing to help drive a circular economy. With over 40 years of experience in the recycling industry, KMK Metals Recycling has helped prevent damage to the environment by reverting waste from disposal, with the company providing waste management solutions nationwide by collecting and recycling metals, WEEE and batteries.

We openly communicate our performance and encourage partnerships with local organisations, academia, government and other interested stakeholders. By operating sustainably, we will earn the respect and trust of our stakeholders and create sustained growth and profitability in an increasingly resource-constrained world.

KMK Metals Recycling aims to be a safe and responsible recycling company by striving to create a zero-harm workplace for our employees, being an exemplary member of the community in which we operate and being responsible stewards of the environment.

KMK Metals Recycling is also working closely with the compliance scheme WEEE Ireland to help recycle Ireland’s WEEE and batteries, but also to spread the word through local events and schools to encourage recycling and provide better education and information to the public.

KMK Metals Recycling is helping manufacturers realise the damage their products can do to the environment and encouraging them to improve their design so there is less damage to the environment and more opportunity to reuse or recycle the equipment at end-of-life.

Zero Waste to Landfill:

No e-waste is sent to landfill by KMK Metals Recycling due to its “zero waste to landfill’ policy. Instead, where necessary, Energy-from-Waste (EfW) is chosen as the most responsible alternative to landfill disposal. It reduces the volume of waste to be disposed of by 90% and generates valuable renewable energy, resulting in a net reduction of greenhouse gas emissions when compared to conventional landfill practices.
