KMK Metals Recycling LTD. has recently undertaken a major project with Irish company UrbanVolt to reduce its carbon footprint by replacing old site lighting with LED lights which are up to 80% more efficient than traditional lighting, such as fluorescent and incandescent lights.
Reducing energy consumption by replacing old lighting with LED lighting fits in well with the company ethos and assists KMK’s goal to help the environment and fight climate change.
Olivia Brennan, Compliance Manager at KMK Metals Recycling, said: “Upgrading to LED allows us to be more energy efficient which leads to a reduction in our emissions and as a result, cleaner and more sustainable energy coming from our facilities in Tullamore and Kilbeggan. This helps us reach our sustainability goals and our energy efficiency directives.”
Criostoir O’Brien, Production and Operation Manager, said: “KMK’s facilities have benefitted tremendously from the installation of LED lighting here on site. Our work areas are much brighter for our staff to operate in and it’s a much more pleasant environment for people to work in.”
Established in 2015, UrbanVolt delivers Light as a Service business model (LaaS®) to corporate clients in Ireland, UK, Continental Europe and across the United States. It upgrades commercial buildings to LED lighting for no upfront capital cost, enabling companies to save on their lighting costs while also dramatically reducing their carbon emissions.
