MEP Maria Walsh visits KMK Metals Recycling on her tour of Tullamore

   Fri, 15th Mar, 2024

Maria Walsh MEP was joined by her party colleague, local Fine Gael councillor Neil Feighery in a visit to the KMK Metals Recycling Tullamore headquarters today.

MEP Walsh was visiting Offaly in advance of her bid to be selected by Fine Gael to contest the forthcoming European Elections in the 15-county Midlands North West constituency and retain her seat. Offaly and Laois have been added to the constituency this time around.

On arrival they met with Kurt Kyck, CEO of KMK Metals Recycling and Max Kyck, General Manager, to talk about the e-waste recycling industry and operations at KMK Metals Recycling, where approximately 80% of e-waste in Ireland is collected for recycling.

Kurt spoke to them about his work as President of European Electronics Recyclers Association (EERA) and the effects of European policy decisions on recyclers. Afterwards they enjoyed a tour of the facility and expressed their surprise at the scale and size of our operations.

Kurt Kyck, CEO of KMK Metals Recycling said: “It was a pleasure to welcome MEP Maria Walsh and local councillor Neil Feighery to our Tullamore facility. It is a good opportunity to demonstrate the valuable work we do here and also to explain to MEP Walsh how EERA operates and our work with the European Commission. I wanted to make the point that EERA members and indeed ourselves are impacted by decisions made at European level. I think they both enjoyed their visit and I look forward to welcoming them to our Kilbeggan facility sometime in the future.”
