Tullamore boxer, Grainne Walsh, is heading for the finals of the IABA National Elite Championships this weekend, where she will face the reigning world, commonwealth and European champion, Amy Broadhurst. KMK Metals Recycling is sponsoring Grainne once again in 2023 and following her progress with great interest and pride.
A member of local Spartacus boxing club, which KMK also supports, Grainne has suffered a number of injury setbacks in recent years, but the 27-year-old returned to the ring on Saturday in the 66KG weight category. In her National Elite semi-final, the local woman overcame Cork's Leanne Murphy on a 3-2 split decision.
Max Kyck, General Manager of KMK Metals Recycling, commented: “Grainne is pure class. She has handled her injuries with great strength and determination and bounced back in terrific form. We look forward to following her progress in what should be a very competitive final on Saturday. Although it is all about strength and skill rather than luck, we would still like to wish her our very best.”
The IABA Men’s and Women’s Irish National Senior Elite Boxing Finals take place this coming Saturday evening in the national stadium in Dublin.
