KMK Granted ISO 45001:2018 Standard

KMK Metals Recycling Ltd. is continuing with its mission to constantly progress and grow by achieving the ISO 45001:2018 certification with NSAI at both its Tullamore and Kilbeggan facilities.

The burden of occupational injuries and diseases is significant, both for employers and the wider economy, resulting in losses from early retirements, staff absence and rising insurance premiums.  To combat the problem, ISO developed a new standard, ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety management systems to help organisations reduce this burden by providing a framework to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions.

The standard was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts, and follows other generic management system approaches such as ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015. This year, KMK Kilbeggan has obtained full certification to all three ISO standards as a daughter facility to KMK Tullamore.

Olivia Brennan, KMK Compliance Manager, said: “It’s great that we have achieved the certification so early on - it was only released March last year. Employee health and safety is very important at KMK and while we already have an excellent record in this area, this will help us to keep on improving and advancing.”
