The Pieta House Kilimanjaro Challenge 2017: KMK Shares The Load

   Tue, 25th Jul, 2017

KMK have been proudly sponsoring The Pieta Challenge 2017 – the climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa!

KMK Metals Recycling Ltd. and WEEE Ireland welcomed home Enda O'Doherty and The Pieta Challenge team following their successful climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in aid of Pieta House.

The team climbed Africa’s highest peak with a washing machine in tow! Enda's goal was to raise vital funds for Pieta House and to spread a positive mental health message. He chose to carry a washing machine as it symbolised the heavy hidden load that many people carry, the importance of asking for help and sharing the load. The challenge was a huge success with Enda raising €168,046 as it stands, smashing his initial goal of €120,000.

KMK Metals Recycling Ltd. and WEEE Ireland supported Enda and the team in their challenge donating €2,000 in sponsorship of the event. On Saturday 22nd of July, the well-travelled washing machine was taken on its ‘final spin’ to be recycled responsibly. Enda came to our Open Day Recycling Event in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny to promote the recycling of the washing machine he carried. This washing machine will later be delivered to our facility in Tullamore, Co. Offaly to be appropriately recycled.
